A browser is a World Wide Web client application. It provides a single interface to most of the various information servers available on the Internet, making it easier and more convenient to access them. Browsers also allow documents formatted in HTML to be viewed, images to be displayed within these documents, and hotlinks to other documents and data to be established.

Essentially, they provide transparent, point and click (with a graphical interface), access to most of the information available on the Internet.
