Home Directory
A directory on our system is analogous to folders or directories on a Personal Computer. They are places in your account where files are kept, and are used for organizing your site. Your WebCom Home Directory is the top directory of your account which contains all the other directories, and has the same name as your WebCom userid. A common WebCom account directory structure would look like:

All files and directories you create or transfer are stored underneath your home directory. This includes files intended for distribution through both FTP and the Web, as well as configuration files for WebCom services such as email and spell checkers.
When you log into WebCom via FTP, using your WebCom userid and password when prompted, you will be automatically "taken" to your home directory. A directory listing (if you need help with this you may want to see out FTP Tutorial) will show your other directories and any files you have stored in your home directory. Similarly, when using the WebCom File Manager, you begin at your home directory. For more information about how it is set up, see Your WebCom Directory.
